Efficiency of using diesel additives: Top 5 tests
Diesel fuel is reliable, adapts easily to an environment with high humidity, and has a lower consumption due to the high combustion temperature, unlike gasoline. It is not surprising that in recent years it has been actively exploited not only by the owners of freight and agricultural transport but also by passenger cars.
To improve the properties of diesel fuel and minimize the risks during operation, specialized additives are used. Their effectiveness has been repeatedly confirmed by the tests of the leaders of the petrochemical industry.
We have collected the TOP 5.1. Road tests of passenger cars
One Peugeot 207 car ran on base fuel without any additional impurities. He showed signs of clogging the injectors and, after driving 15,000 km, did not start again. The second identical Peugeot 207 car ran on the same fuel, but using an additive. Upon completion of the tests, the injectors of both engines were sent to a specialized workshop for evaluation.
As a result, the nozzle of the engine running on fuel with an additive is in excellent condition. But the nozzle of the engine on fuel without additives was not suitable for work: the ball bearing got stuck in the cup, an oily film formed on the surface of the piston-pusher, the needle stopped spontaneously leaving the nozzle.
2. Tests on large-capacity trucks SCANIA R420 Euro V
Specialists measured the diesel consumption through the nozzle, and analyzed the profile of the fuel atomization by the nozzle – before the run on fuel with an additive and after. The distance is 15 thousand km. The results are as follows: the additive reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by about 3.1%, and also effectively cleaned the working surfaces of the injectors due to its cleaning properties.
The experts analyzed the radial distribution of fuel during injection before and after the application of the additive. As a result, the degree of radial uniformity of its injection by injectors has increased in the fuel. This is a visual confirmation of the cleaning of the nozzle nozzles with detergent components.
3. Testing on VOLVO trucks
Three Volvo FH13 trucks were involved, and road tests lasted 12 months. It was necessary to use the data on fuel consumption by tractors accumulated during the year. One of the problems recorded by technical specialists is cases of early blocking of the fuel filter.
As a result, after using the additive, fuel consumption decreased by an average of 8.2%, and the fuel filters remained completely in good condition without signs of accumulated deposits.
4. Tests on low-tonnage trucks
The indicators of trucks after a run without and with the use of an additive were compared. During the test, the effectiveness of the additive in reducing harmful emissions and fuel consumption was confirmed. For CO2 emissions, the maximum reduction was 15.3%, for hydrocarbon emissions – 6.8%. And the reduction in fuel consumption reached 1.9%.
5. Dandelion tests of Complex Truck's additive for trucks, tractors, and special equipment
The additive reduces fuel consumption by up to 8%, improves lubricity by 30%, increases the cetane number, and, accordingly, power by up to 13%, and protects the fuel system from corrosion and deposits.
This was confirmed by tests on the stand. A Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor of 3-year working operation was chosen for them. Specialists carried out measurements of indicators on fuel without additives and with the use of Complex Truck in a dosage of 2 liters per 1000 liters of diesel fuel. So, the engine power is UP to — 257 hp, with an additive — 391 hp.
At the same dosage, the diameter of the wear spot decreases on average by 30-35 microns, depending on the brand of fuel, and the cetane number increases from 52 to 58.
Important: the Complex Truck additive does not affect the sulfur content, flash, fractional composition, and other fuel indicators in any way.*
It is impossible to deny the effectiveness of diesel additives. But whether to use them or not is up to the owner of the equipment. The main thing is to choose an experienced manufacturer who guarantees and is ready to confirm the result. Otherwise, instead of the desired advantages, you can get solid losses.
