2-EHN Siberia® – cetane improver additive (2-Ethylhexyl nitrate)
What сetane improver additives are necessary for?
Because of the qualities that occur when cetane improver additives are added to gasoline, they have a wide spread. In comparison to work on fuel with a lower cetane-indicator, an increase in cetane number contributes to some favorable properties of fuel: successful engine start in low temperature conditions, great environmental friendliness (emission of harmful substances into the atmosphere is significantly reduced), and work silence.
Structure
High-purity 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate.
Features that should be known
A number of benefits explain the popularity of the cetane improver additive 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate:
- it's interchangeable with additives of foreign production;
- is applied together with the antiwear and dispersant and depressor additives with full saving of diesel fuel properties, including long storage;
- tests of diesel fuels with the additive have shown that the quality of domestic additive doesn't concede to foreign analogues;
- it is registered according to the regulations of REACH.
Where to use?
It is possible to distinguish three main directions of use of the 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate additive:
- DT (90–20%) from 70 to 100 °C; D (end boiling point 90%) from 17 to 25 °C; DT (90–20%) from 70 to 100 °C; DT (90–20%) from 70 to 100 °C; DT (90–20%) from 70 to 100 °C; DT (90–20%) from 70 to 100 °C; DT (90–20%) from 70 to 100
- broad fractions of distillates (ASTM D86 distillation) with DT values of 90-20% from 100 to 120 °C and finish boiling points below 380 °C;
- high-boiling distillates with endl boiling point above 380 °C.
Cetane improver additions should be used in conjunction with dispersion, depressant, and antiwear additives. Their joint use enables the profit of an oil refinery to be increased. It arises as a result of the high selling value of diesel fuel, which is supported by improved ignition quality, reduced engine noise, lower emissions, and ease of starting at low temperatures.
Activity of 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate in figures
The cetane number increases from 48 to 57,8 after 0.6% of the additive is added to diesel fuel. EURO diesel fuel according to GOST P 52368-2005. Running testing revealed that the cetane improver 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate additive was the best option.
